There are two types of people in this world, people who believe in Jesus and those who don’t. Jesus would sometimes refer to these groups as sheep and goats or good fish and bad fish or alive and dead. What was the difference between the two groups? Spiritual eyes.
In regards to those who are unbelievers (i.e. goats, bad fish, or dead) they do not have the ability to see the truth of the greatness of Jesus. To them Jesus is just another dude. They see Him as an historical figure, like Abraham Lincoln. They may believe He was “special” but they would never go so far as saying He is God.
For the believer (i.e. sheep, good fish, or alive) when they look at Jesus they don’t just see a man, but they see God taking on flesh and dwelling among us. They see Jesus as worthy to be worshiped. They place their trust completely in Him alone for their salvation and follow Him with all of their heart.
So why do some believe and some not believe? It has to do with spiritual eyes. For the unbeliever the Bible tells us that they are blind. Specifically, they are blind to the glory of Christ. When they see Him, they don’t really see HIM. They see just a man. They see a good teacher…only. They see a revolutionary…only. They see a prophet…only. But they can’t see the truth that He is God, which leads to why He is so irrelevant in their life. They are blind to the most important thing in the Universe…God.
For the believer, the eyes of their heart has been enlightened, and because of this they see in Him not only as a good teacher, not only as a revolutionary, not only a prophet, but they also see a King, the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the Messiah, the Great High Priest, Emmanuel.
And the ability to see, changes everything. If you see Jesus for who He is, you are left with only one option, to worship Him. This is because worshiping God is the only thing that makes sense if you know Him. The more you see Him, the more you worship Him. In the Bible, when God shows His glory in significant ways, people fall on their face and worship. Why? Because that is the only thing that is appropriate in that moment. In that moment you can’t ignore His glory. It demands a response.
So ask yourself, how do you see Jesus? If you see Him as less than God, then you aren't seeing Him. You are seeing a false Jesus. If so, ask God to shine his light upon you and reveal to you the awesome Glory of His Son. When He does this, it changes everything...for your good.
