What is Cornerstone?
This may be a common question that you will hear throughout the community; however, the better question is “Who is Cornerstone?”
Cornerstone is not a building, an institution, a denomination, a club or a set of rules. It is a group of ordinary people. More specifically, it is a group of ordinary people who want to know an extraordinary God. In John 17:3, Jesus prays these words, “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” This is what the people of Cornerstone are primarily about, to know God and Jesus Christ.
The question is how can you know God? Jesus tells us shortly after in John 17:8, “For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.” So how do we know God? We know God by hearing His Word.
At Cornerstone we seek God by spending time in His Word, the Bible. We believe that the Bible is not like any other book in all of history. It is not a text book or a novel. Nor is it archaic or trivial. The Bible is living and active. It provides hope during times of despair. It provides light in the darkest night. It brings joy in the midst of sorrow. It calls us from death to life. And it does all of these things by pointing us to the person of Jesus Christ.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1, 14
We invite everyone to join us every Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. and seek the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ!
